Vietnamese banks are identified by an 8-digit CITAD (Central Interbank Transaction and Data) code assigned by the State Bank of Vietnam. Used for interbank transfers through the IBPS and the NAPAS switching network.

How CITAD works
The 8-digit CITAD code identifies the specific bank branch. It is required for traditional interbank transfers, though NAPAS fast transfers increasingly use just the bank name and account number for retail payments.
