The UAE uses IBAN as the primary account identifier for domestic and international transfers. UAE IBANs are 23 characters long and include a 3-digit bank code assigned by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

How it works
The UAE IBAN contains the country code (AE), 2 check digits, a 3-digit bank code, and a 16-digit account number. All domestic transfers through the UAE Funds Transfer System (UAEFTS) and the UAE Switch require IBAN.

UAE IBANs are mandatory for all domestic transfers — the old account number format is no longer accepted.
Aani (IPP) enables instant transfers using phone number, email, or IBAN.
