IBAN
Luxembourg uses a 20-character IBAN as part of the SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) framework. As a major European financial center, Luxembourg hosts numerous international banks and investment funds, with the BCL (Banque Centrale du Luxembourg) overseeing the payment system.

How it works
The Luxembourgish IBAN starts with "LU" followed by 2 check digits and a 16-character BBAN consisting of a 3-digit bank code and a 13-digit account number. All euro transfers within the SEPA zone use IBAN, processed through TARGET2 for high-value and STEP2 for retail payments.
