Connecting Slash to an External Service Using Yodlee
Last updated March 21, 2026
Overview
Yodlee is a financial data aggregation service that powers many personal finance, accounting, and business management applications. When you connect your Slash account through an app that uses Yodlee, you're giving that app permission to view your financial information without sharing your login credentials directly.
How Yodlee Works
Yodlee acts as a secure intermediary between Slash and third-party applications. Instead of giving each app your Slash username and password, Yodlee uses secure authentication protocols to establish a read-only connection.
What Data Gets Shared
- Account information: Account names, types, and identification numbers
- Balances: Current and available balances for connected accounts and subaccounts
- Transaction history: Posted transactions including dates, amounts, merchant names, and categories
- Entity information: Basic details about your business entity on Slash
Yodlee does not share your Slash login credentials, card numbers or full account numbers, or the ability to move money or modify your account.
How to Connect Slash to an External App Using Yodlee
Step 1: Find the Connection Option in Your App
Look for options like "Link bank account," "Add account," "Connect financial institution," or similar.
Step 2: Search for Slash
Type "Slash" or "Slash Financial" in the search field and select it from the results.
Step 3: Authenticate Your Slash Account
Enter your Slash email address and password, complete any required multi-factor authentication, review the permissions, and authorize the connection.
Step 4: Select Accounts to Share
Choose which accounts the app can access.
Step 5: Confirm and Complete
After authorizing, Yodlee establishes the secure connection.
Refreshing Your Connection
Yodlee connections occasionally need to be refreshed if you changed your Slash password, your session expired, or you updated MFA settings.
Disconnecting a Yodlee Connection
You can disconnect from the third-party app or from Slash under Settings → Integrations or Connected Apps.
Security and Privacy
- No credential sharing
- Read-only access
- Encryption using industry-standard protocols
- Revocable access at any time
- FDX compliance
Troubleshooting
- Slash doesn't appear in search: Try "Slash Financial" or "Slash Banking."
- Connection fails: Verify credentials, complete MFA steps, and try again.
- Data isn't syncing: Use the app's manual refresh option or reconnect.
- Transactions missing: Yodlee typically shares 90 days of history initially.
