Who Must Be Identified When Applying for a Slash Account
Last updated September 9, 2026
Overview
Slash collects information about certain people who own or control your company to verify your business and meet regulatory requirements.
Who must be identified
- Every beneficial owner with 25% or more ownership. Identify each individual whose combined direct and indirect ownership in the company is 25% or more.
- Exactly one control person. Identify one person with significant responsibility for managing the company. This may be a CEO, president, CFO, COO, managing member, general partner, or another senior executive.
The same individual may fulfill both requirements. A control person may have 0% ownership. If no individual owns 25% or more, you must still identify one control person.
How indirect ownership works
Direct ownership means an individual personally owns part of the company applying to Slash. Indirect ownership means an individual owns part of the applicant through one or more other legal entities.
If another legal entity owns part or all of your company, follow the ownership through each entity until you reach the individual owners. Identify each individual whose combined direct and indirect ownership is 25% or more.
What to prepare
For each person, be prepared to provide:
- Full legal name and date of birth
- Residential address
- Ownership percentage, if applicable
- Role or title at the company
- Identity and tax information requested in the application
- A valid government-issued ID; individuals outside the U.S. may be asked for a passport
Before you continue
Check that the people, ownership percentages, and roles you provide match your company’s official records. Before continuing, you’ll be asked to certify that you have identified every individual who directly or indirectly owns 25% or more of the company and one control person, and that the information is complete and accurate.
