How to Replace a Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Slash Card
Last updated June 8, 2026
Overview
If your physical Slash Card is lost, stolen, damaged, or no longer in your possession, you should take action right away to protect your account. You can pause or close the card from your Slash dashboard and review your recent transactions for unauthorized activity.
Once your account is squared away, you can order a replacement card; here's how to get one, and the steps you should take in order to transition to your new Slash card effectively.
What to do if your Slash Card is lost or stolen
Step 1: Pause the card
If you cannot find your card or believe it may have been stolen, pause the card immediately. A paused card cannot be used for new purchases, but it remains in your dashboard while you decide whether to unpause it or replace it.
To pause a card:
- Sign in to your Slash dashboard.
- Go to Cards.
- Select the card that was lost or stolen. A sidebar menu will appear.
- Choose the option to pause the card.
Step 2: Review recent transactions
After pausing the card, review recent card activity. Look for purchases, refunds, or attempted charges that you do not recognize. If you see an unauthorized or suspicious activity, contact Slash support with your card details and the details of the flagged activity.
Step 3: Close the card if it should not be used again
If the card is permanently lost, stolen, or compromised, close the card instead of unpausing it. Closing a card permanently deactivates it and prevents it from being used again.
What to do if your Slash Card is damaged
If your card is physically damaged but you still have it, you can continue using it, as long as it still works and you are comfortable doing so. If the chip, magnetic stripe, or contactless payments no longer work, you should order a new physical card.
While waiting for a replacement, you can issue yourself a new virtual card to continue spending normally. Click here for instructions on how to create virtual cards in Slash.
How to order a replacement card
You can order a new physical card from the Cards page in your Slash dashboard. For an in-depth guide on how to begin an order, read How to Order and Activate a Physical Slash Card. Below is an abridged walkthrough of ordering a new physical card:
- Go to Cards in your Slash dashboard.
- Click Add or the card creation option.
- Select Order Physical Card.
- Enter the cardholder information and card settings.
- Enter the shipping address and choose an available shipping method.
- Review the order details and submit the card order.
Shipping options, available card designs, and any shipping fees depend on your account configuration and card program eligibility. Applicable fee are shown before you submit an order.
What happens to my old card?
A closed card cannot be used for new purchases. However, you may still see activity related to transactions that happened before the card was closed, such as pending authorizations, merchant refunds, reversals, or dispute updates.
If the old card was used for subscriptions, saved payment methods, vendor accounts, or recurring charges, update those merchants with the new card details after your replacement card is activated.
What to do after receiving your replacement Slash Card
1. Activate your card
When your replacement card arrives, activate it from the card details page in your Slash dashboard. Until the card is activated, it cannot be used for purchases. After activation, confirm that the card settings are correct, including the funding account, card group, spending limits, merchant controls, and approved countries.
2. Update saved payment methods
If the old card was saved with any merchants, update those accounts with your new card details. This is especially important for:
- Software subscriptions
- Advertising platforms
- Shipping, fulfillment, or inventory vendors
- Travel or lodging accounts
- Any recurring bill or automatic payment
If you do not update saved payment methods, future merchant charges may fail because the old card can no longer be used.
