Getting Paid Through Slash: Completing a Vendor Invite
Last updated October 28, 2026
Overview
You got an email from Slash asking you to share your payment details, often titled"Complete your recipient information to get paid". This guide explains what that email is and how to finish in a few minutes.
What is this email?
A business you work with uses Slash to pay its vendors and contractors. They sent you an information request so they can pay you correctly. The email says who asked and lists what they need, which can be any of:
- Deposit details: where to send your money
- Address details: your mailing address
- Tax details: your tax info and a signed IRS tax form
You might also get related emails, such as " Business has queued a payment of $X to you" or "Action needed: upload your signed W-9 for Business". They all point to the same secure page.
Note: You don't need a Slash business account. You'll only create a quick login with the email the invite was sent to, to confirm it's yours. Use any web browser; vendor invites aren't available in the Slash mobile app.
How to Complete a Vendor Invite Payment Request
Step 1: Open the link from the email and sign in
- Open the newest email from Slash and click the button (for example, Complete your information or Add payment details).
- The page opens with your email address already filled in. The link only works for the address it was sent to, so you can't change it here. If someone else on your team should fill it out, ask the business to send the request to them.
- If you're new to Slash, you'll see Create your Slash account. Choose a password and click Continue. This login confirms you own the email address the invite was sent to. It is not a business bank account.
- If the page shows a login form and you don't have a password yet, click Sign Up below the Sign In button.
- If you already have a Slash login with this email, you'll be asked to log in instead. Use Forgot password? if you need to.
- Verify your email. We send a 6-digit code to your email address. Enter it and click Verify. Didn't get it? Check your spam folder, or wait a minute and request a new code.
If you see"Recipient authorization required", you're signed in with a different email than the one the request was sent to. Click Log out and switch accounts, then sign in with the email that received the request.
Step 2: Fill in the form
The page is titled"[Business name] needs your vendor details". You'll only see the sections the business asked for.
Payment details
Click Add next to "Payment method" and enter where you want to be paid. Depending on what the business asked for, you can choose:
- US bank account: routing number, account number, and account holder details
- International wire: your bank's details for an international wire
- Crypto wallet: only if the business offers it
You can add one payment method of each type the business accepts. Payment methods save as soon as you click Save new destination.
Mailing address
Start typing your address and pick it from the suggestions, or enter it manually.
Tax details
You'll enter your legal name, country, tax classification (US only), taxpayer ID (SSN, EIN, or foreign TIN), an email for tax purposes, and your address for tax purposes. You'll also upload a signed tax form:
Tips for a smooth upload:
- PDF only. Photos, Word files, and other formats aren't accepted.
- It must be signed. A handwritten, typed, or e-signature on the certification line all work. Date your signature too.
- Upload the whole form. For a W-8BEN-E, include all 8 pages.
- Use a clear scan or the original PDF.
We automatically read your form and fill in any details we recognize, so check them before you continue. If the form isn't signed, is missing information (like your name, address, or taxpayer ID), or isn't a W-9/W-8, you'll see a message asking you to upload a corrected file.
If a taxpayer ID is already on file, it's kept. You can leave the field blank, or enter a new one to replace it.
Step 3: Click Submit
Your details aren't sent until you click Submit at the bottom of the page. (Payment methods and tax forms are saved as you add them, and we keep a draft of what you type, but the business isn't notified until you submit.)
If the button is grayed out, the note next to it tells you what's missing, for example "Add at least one payment method" or "Upload your signed W-9, W-8BEN, or W-8BEN-E".
After you submit, you'll see"Information submitted", and the business is notified.
That's it. There's no approval step.
Once you've submitted, you're done. Nobody at Slash needs to approve anything, and you don't need to do anything else unless the business asks.
If you also see a Slash business account application, that's separate from your invite and isn't needed to get paid. You can leave it, or email support@slash.com and we'll close it for you.
Claiming a payment
Sometimes a business sends a payment before you've added your details. You'll get an email saying "[Business name] has queued a payment of $X to you". Here's how to collect it:
- Open the link and sign in.
- You'll see the payment under Pending payments at the top of the page.
- Fill in the rest of the form and click Submit first. Until then, the payment shows "You must complete the form to claim your payment".
- Click Claim next to the payment.
- If you already have a matching US bank account saved, confirm the amount and account, then click Claim payment.
- If not, you'll be asked to add a US bank account. Click Save and Claim to save it and claim in one step.
Claiming starts the transfer right away and can't be undone, so double-check your bank details first.
Queued payments (ACH, US wire, and RTP) can only be claimed to a US bank account. If the Claim button is unavailable and the business only asked for a different payment type (like an international wire), ask them to send a new invite that requests a US bank account.
Changing your payment details later
You can update your information at any time while the request is open:
- Open the link from your email and sign in.
- To change a payment method, click it, edit the details, and click Save changes.
- To change your address or tax info, update the fields and click Save changes at the bottom.
You'll see a banner showing when you last submitted. You can keep editing and re-submitting.
If the link says the request is no longer active, ask the business to send you a new one.
Troubleshooting
"This request is no longer active"
The business canceled this request, or replaced it with a new one. Older links stop working when a new request is sent.
- Look for a newer email from Slash and use that link.
- If you don't have one, ask the business to resend the request.
I'm seeing a business account application instead of my invite
Open the link from your email again; it takes you straight to your invite. If you still see the application, email support@slash.com and we'll sort it out.
I didn't get the verification code
Check spam and promotions folders, wait a minute, and request a new code from the same screen.
I'm on my phone in the Slash app
The app doesn't support vendor invites. Open the email link in a web browser instead.
Need help?
- Questions about the payment itself (amount, timing, what's owed): contact the business that's paying you.
- Trouble with the link, login, or form: email support@slash.com.
