How to Create a Card in Your Global USD Account
Last updated May 19, 2026
Overview
You can issue Rain-powered virtual cards directly from your Slash Global USD Account. These cards work anywhere Visa is accepted, draw from your USDSL balance, and let you spend just like you would with any corporate card.
This guide explains what you need before creating a card, how the in-Slash card-access approval application works, and how to create your first virtual card once card access is approved.
Note: Global USD cards are issued by Slash’s card partner, Rain. Card access requires a separate in-Slash approval from your Global USD Account approval, so your Global USD Account may be open and funded before cards are available.
How to Apply for Global USD Card Access
The first time you visit the Cards page for a Global USD Account, you may be prompted to apply for card access. This is a one-time approval step for the legal entity. Once approved, you can issue Global USD virtual cards from the Cards page:
Step 1: Open the Cards page
From your Global USD Account dashboard, select Cards in the left sidebar. If your legal entity has not yet been approved for Global USD cards, you’ll see a setup screen instead of the standard card-management view.
Step 2: Start the application
Click Apply now or Begin application, depending on your entity type.
The application runs inside Slash. It is not a separate Rain portal that you need to visit. Slash uses information already collected for your Global USD Account where possible, and may ask you to confirm card terms or provide a few additional card-access details.
Step 3: Complete the prompts
Follow the prompts in the application panel. The information requested can vary by entity type and account history.
- For business entities, the flow is generally prefilled from your Global USD application and focuses on accepting the applicable card terms. If additional review is needed, Slash may ask for more information.
- For individual/consumer entities, Slash may ask for additional information such as occupation, annual salary range, account purpose, expected payment volume, and terms acceptance.
Step 4: Submit and wait for review
Submit the card-access application. If the application is in review, the Cards page will show that status. Review may take a few business days.
If card access is denied or unsupported, the Cards page will show the relevant status. Common reasons may include unsupported residency, unsupported jurisdiction, or compliance review requirements. Contact Slash support if you believe the status is incorrect.
How to Create Cards in Your Global USD Account
Once card access is approved, the Cards page switches to the standard card-management view. You can then issue virtual cards for your Global USD Account.
Step 1: Navigate to Cards
Make sure you’re viewing the correct Global USD Account. If you manage multiple entities or accounts, use the entity/account switcher to confirm you’re in the right workspace. Then select Cards in the left sidebar.
Step 2: Initiate card creation
Click Add in the top-right corner and select New Virtual Card from the dropdown.
Step 3: Configure card details
In the card creation panel, fill in the card details. Available fields may include:
- Card name: A descriptive label that helps you identify the card later, such as “AWS Payments” or “Marketing Subscriptions.”
- Number of cards: The number of virtual cards to create with this configuration, if bulk creation is available for your account.
- Funding account: Select your Global USD Account. Global USD cards draw from your USDSL balance.
- Card group: Optionally apply a card group to use preset spending rules and limits.
- Cardholder: Optionally assign the card to a team member. If no cardholder is assigned, the card may use your business/entity name where applicable.
Step 4: Set spending controls optional
Open the Limits section to configure controls for the card. Depending on your account, available controls may include:
- Transaction size limits: Set minimum or maximum transaction amounts.
- Utilization limits: Set daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or total spending caps.
- Merchant category controls: Allow or block groups of merchants, such as travel, dining, or software.
- MCC controls: Allow or block specific Merchant Category Codes for more granular control.
- Country controls: Restrict where the card can be used geographically.
Step 5: Review and create
Review the card details and limits, then click Create Card.
Once created, the virtual card is available from the Cards page. Open the card to view its card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address. You can copy the card details into a merchant checkout or add the card to a supported mobile wallet when available.
