Prohibited and restricted businesses for Payment Processing
Last updated September 22, 2026
Slash Payment Processing supports eligible businesses across many industries. To protect customers, merchants, and our financial partners, some products, services, and business models cannot use Payment Processing.
You are responsible for ensuring that your business, products, marketing, and transactions comply with applicable laws, card-network rules, and Slash policies. The examples below are not exhaustive.
Illegal products and services
You cannot use Payment Processing for any product, service, or activity that violates applicable local, state, federal, or international law. This includes activity that violates sanctions, anti-money-laundering, or anti-terrorist-financing requirements.
If you are unsure which laws or licensing requirements apply to your business, consult a qualified professional before accepting payments.
Prohibited products, services, and business models
- Adult content, products, and services: Pornographic or sexually explicit material depicting real sexual acts, and services intended primarily for sexual gratification.
- Alcohol, tobacco, and nicotine: Alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and nicotine products.

- Fraudulent documents and identity services: Forged, altered, or unauthorized government documents, personal identification, credentials, or services that impersonate a government agency.

Restricted businesses
Some products, services, or business models may be eligible only after review and written approval. You may need to provide licenses, registrations, policies, fulfillment records, processing statements, or other evidence that your business meets legal and operational requirements.
Do not begin processing a restricted category until Slash confirms that it is approved.
What happens if a business violates this policy?
Slash may reject an application, block a transaction, request additional information, limit or suspend Payment Processing, or close a processing account. Funds may be held while we investigate risk, disputes, chargebacks, refunds, or legal obligations. Where appropriate, customer payments may be refunded.
Slash and its financial partners may prohibit a business, merchant, product, service, or transaction for legal, regulatory, card-network, reputational, or risk reasons, even if it is not specifically listed above.
