Bank of America Routing Number: Find Yours by State
Look up your Bank of America routing number by state for ACH payments, wire transfers, and direct deposits. Bank of America assigns different routing numbers based on the region where your account was opened.
What is the Bank of America routing number?
Bank of America uses state-specific routing numbers, a legacy of its growth from a regional North Carolina bank (originally NationsBank) into a coast-to-coast institution through acquisitions of FleetBoston, LaSalle Bank, Merrill Lynch, and Countrywide. Each acquisition brought existing customers with existing routing numbers, and rather than force millions of account holders to update their payment configurations, Bank of America kept the inherited numbers active.
Your Bank of America routing number is determined by the state where you originally opened your account. Moving to a different state does not automatically change your routing number.

Wire transfers at Bank of America typically settle the same business day if initiated before the cutoff time (generally 5:00 PM ET for domestic wires). How to find your Bank of America routing number
In the Bank of America mobile app, tap your account, then select "Account & routing numbers" under the account name. On the website, click the account tile and look for "Information & Services" where routing and account numbers are displayed. On a physical check, the nine-digit routing number is the first group of numbers on the bottom-left edge.
Bank of America also provides a routing number lookup tool on their website that lets you search by state. This is the most reliable method if you are setting up a new payment and want to double-check the number before submitting.
Bank of America routing number for direct deposit and ACH
For direct deposit setup, provide your employer with the ACH routing number for the state where your account was opened, along with your account number. Bank of America supports Same Day ACH for qualifying inbound credits, meaning direct deposits may be available earlier than the standard 1-2 business day processing window.
For ACH debits (like recurring bill payments), the same state-specific routing number applies. If you are setting up autopay with a utility company, insurance provider, or subscription service, they will typically ask for both your routing number and checking account number.
