What is LinkedIn Ads?

LinkedIn Ads is the digital advertising platform operated by LinkedIn Corporation (a subsidiary of Microsoft). It allows businesses and professionals to promote posts, run sponsored content, and generate leads through LinkedIn Campaign Manager. According to LinkedIn, over 60 million companies advertise or post jobs on the platform, reaching more than a billion professionals globally. Learn more on their site.

Common causes for LinkedIn Ads charges

Here are 6 common reasons why you may be seeing a LinkedIn Ads charge on your statement:

  • Sponsored content or In-feed ads
Charges occur when your business promotes a post, event, or article via Campaign Manager. You pay per click (CPC) or per impression (CPM).
  • Lead generation or message campaigns
LinkedIn bills advertisers when users open or interact with Sponsored InMail messages or lead forms.
  • Job ad promotion
If you boost a job post or enable “Promote Job” visibility, the charge is processed through the same LinkedIn Ads billing system.
  • Threshold or monthly billing
LinkedIn Ads charges automatically once you reach your billing threshold (e.g., $50, $250, $500) or at the end of your billing cycle.
  • Shared business accounts
When multiple team members share a Campaign Manager account, charges may appear under a single payment profile.
  • Ad testing or small pre-authorizations
Small temporary test charges may appear when a new card or billing method is added.

Decoding charge tags

  • LINKEDIN / LNKD indicates LinkedIn as the billing entity.

  • IRELAND / DUBLIN is common for non-U.S. accounts where charges are processed via LinkedIn Ireland UC.
  • BILLING / PAYMENT refers to a formal invoice or auto-charge for ad spend.
  • 650-687-3600 is LinkedIn’s billing contact number and occasionally shown in descriptors.
