“It's nice to work with a financial provider that's thinking about these small details for companies like ours." - Nick Locascio

Nick Locascio
— CTO of Rebody Health

Rebody Health started out of necessity. Nick, the company's CTO, was dealing with autoimmunity issues, food allergies, and persistent fatigue. He was interested in peptide therapies, but the process of actually obtaining them felt “sketchy”, in his words. To address this problem, he joined up with his former roommate at MIT, George, and created a better solution.

Today, Rebody is a telehealth platform offering peptide therapies through licensed providers, with prescriptions compounded and filled by licensed U.S. pharmacies. The company is LegitScript certified, maintains a HIPAA program, and is developing its own peptide therapies.

The Rebody team is simply made up of George, Nick, a handful of contractors and agencies, and 42 clinicians. They’re currently serving patients through a waitlist in a soft launch. It’s not easy for two founders to coordinate dozens of clinicians and a rotating set of outside vendors, especially as they try to travel from a trial period to full expansion. That’s why George and Nick turned to Slash’s business banking platform.¹

Corporate Cards Built for Telehealth

For George, one of the appeals of Slash is how spending can be sorted. "We like to have fine grain, granular categories," he said. "So even something like marketing. We split marketing into meta spend, and that's different than our SaaS marketing tools. This lets us set up our financial projections in ways that just naturally make sense."

This also works as a sort of risk control. George continued, "Anytime there's a new vendor that we don't fully trust yet, we spin up a new card for that. And it's so easy to do in Slash. It's just a no-brainer whenever we're working with a new vendor." The new supplier gets a card scoped to what they're supposed to charge, and nothing more. Additionally, if suspicious spending occurs with a given card, Slash can notify admins and allow them to freeze that card remotely on the spot.

"I was at a dinner where Victor was talking about Slash and talking about how it's convenient for telehealth," said Nick, referring to Slash founder and CEO Victor Cardenas. "And I noticed it was in some of the details of the design. One being the understanding that there tends to be a lot of workflows around marketing and marketing spend." The more widespread their operations get, the more helpful Slash’s tools can be. Rebody Health is growing by the day, and they’re taking advantage of Slash Visa® Platinum Cards on a daily basis.

Nick also appreciates the card’s rate of up to 2% cash back, especially when it comes to advertising. "There's a lot of marketing spend, and you're able to do it in a way that's value accruative. You're earning while you're spending. So I just like that." He continued, "I remember thinking, it's nice to work with a financial provider that's thinking about these small details for companies like ours."

Invoicing, Treasury, and Customer Support

As Rebody started onboarding vendors and suppliers, George and Nick realized they’d also need a little help with accounts payable and receivable. Again, Slash came in clutch.

"We use the invoicing piece a lot because we're dealing with a bunch of different vendors, and it's easy to be notified within Slash, since everything's already on the platform," said George. "We can automate the payments going in and out. It just cuts out a number of steps. So everything's in Slash and it's just easy to keep track of everything."

Support has also been key. For example, when Rebody's HIPAA auditor couldn't locate a confirmed ACH payment, Nick messaged his Slash rep on Slack and had the full transaction ID and verification instructions back in about ten minutes. The vendor found the payment on their end shortly after.

They didn’t even know Slash came with a Treasury account until a little later on, but it was a welcome surprise. "We were happy to find out Slash also had treasury, because at some point we realized, hey, we should probably be doing something with our balance," George said. "And with Slash, we don't need to move it elsewhere. We can all monitor it in Slash." Slash Treasury currently earns up to 3.77% annualized yield, so liquidity that isn’t being used for vendor payments doesn’t have to collect dust.

What's Next

Rebody Health has grand ambitions over the next three to five years. The plan, down the line, is to serve millions of patients across all 50 states and internationally.

As they head towards that goal, George and Nick want to broaden the format, so to speak. When most people hear "peptides", they picture needles. Rebody wants to develop therapies across several delivery forms to make them more approachable to patients who would never start with an injection. The two also plan to spend significant time speaking with medical professionals directly, designing the ideal clinical experience based on expert opinions.

Growing from two founders and 42 clinicians to a worldwide operation may multiply Rebody’s financial needs a hundredfold. With unlimited virtual cards, uncapped cash back & treasury, and a variety of international payment rails, Slash is built to scale alongside them.
