How Slash’s Automation Tools Helped Hyperbound Grow at Hyperspeed
“Slash really cares a lot about customer-facing excellence.” -- Atul Raghunathan
Hyperbound is a revenue activation platform built around a simple premise: every winnable deal should be won. Founded in 2023 as a sales roleplay tool, the company has since expanded into full sales coaching and analysis, giving managers a way to train and develop reps much more quickly., Right away, demand started pouring in from all types of sales teams. To match that momentum, Hyperbound’s team grew from 15 to 45 in just six months.
Any time your team and revenue expand at that level, everything else expands at the same time. Hyperbound went from a handful of consistent vendors to over 100 in just a couple of years. As everything became more complex, co-founder and CEO Atul Raghunathan knew he needed a financial system that could keep up. "It's really important to have expense management and spend reporting automated and set up in a convenient manner for the entire organization to use, not just the founders," said Atul.
Banking software that works with a tiny team rarely keeps up when you’re scaling as quickly as Hyperbound. "You move away from the early days of being able to cobble together any solution to wanting something that scales well," Atul explained, "and Slash has done that for us."
Onboarding With Slash and Getting Started With Treasury
Slash is a business banking platform purpose-built to help busy executives manage their finances without increasing headcount or spending hours sifting through data.¹ For Atul, the case for Slash started with a simple observation about what happens to his cash after a funding round.
"You put a lot of money into your bank account when you raise a funding round, and the treasury interest that you earn off of that balance can fund R&D, can fund free lunches for your team, can fund several other cultural programs internally within the company."
Slash’s treasury accounts allow users to earn up to 3.82% annualized yield on idle funds with money market investments from BlackRock and Morgan Stanley.⁶ When your treasury yield comes with returns that high, it can fund initiatives you didn’t have the budget for in the past. According to Atul, "It's a no-brainer. You should make the most of your cash flow by investing your money in a treasury account."
Before getting there, though, Atul and the team had to switch banks. Fortunately, Slash made it extremely simple for Hyperbound to move their information from one place to the next without impacting their operations. “We've migrated banks before, but never this fast. I think we got everything set up within 2-3 weeks," Atul said. "I honestly couldn't have asked for an easier experience."
A big part of that came down to the personal touch that Slash’s team provides. "Rishi at Slash was phenomenal to work with, very very happy to have him helping us out throughout the onboarding process.” remarked Atul. “Slash really cares a lot about customer-facing excellence, and that's been really apparent for us throughout every stage of onboarding."
Automated Expense Policies and Accounting Syncs
Once Hyperbound was live with Slash, it quickly became obvious where the team’s attention should turn. Expense approvals in particular were weighing momentum down, as spend requests and fund releases were stuck waiting in line while everything else at the company was trying to move forwards. Slash allowed Atul to break up the logjam by configuring automated expense policies.
"The ability to set up expense policies that were automated in Slash made a huge difference," Atul explained. "It made it a lot easier for me to review just the things that I needed to be there for, while everything else took care of itself automatically."
Another high priority for Hyperbound was the ability to integrate cleanly with accounting software, which Atul called the single most important feature in any financial platform. "Slash has a very seamless integration with QuickBooks, so I can just pop into QuickBooks and manage the high-level details on the account, and forecast what I need to from there." Slash also connects with Sage Intacct, Xero, and NetSuite, but QuickBooks was the one that mattered for Hyperbound's stack.
Between Slash’s accounting integrations and automated expense policies, the Hyperbound team was able to save hours of tedious, manual data entry. Between those benefits and the extra capital from Slash Treasury, Atul and the team were set up to grow even more quickly than before.
Scaling Toward What's Next
Hyperbound began the year with a team of 15, and they plan to finish the year with somewhere between 70 and 100. They've been hiring across nearly every function, mainly to try to keep pace with their overflowing inbound demand. It's a great problem to have. However, it means they need a financial foundation built to handle the extra payment volume. That’s exactly why they chose Slash.
According to Atul, "Hyperbound is gonna be the primary tool that every sales manager uses to manage 10 to 20 sales reps instead of their usual 5-7." It’s an ambitious vision, but it’s one we believe in. We’ll be there to support Atul and the Hyperbound team along the way.
