September Monthly Recap: New Features, a Visit to Monaco, and Payment Processing

September was a big month for Slash. Along with several product updates, we debuted Slash Payment Processing, which lets businesses accept card and digital wallet payments through invoices or a custom checkout.¹ Let's take a look at each of September's highlights:

Payment Processing

Slash Payment Processing is now live. Approved businesses can accept card and digital wallet payments from customers around the world. Slash acts as the merchant of record, so you don't need to set up or manage your own merchant accounts.

There are two ways to start accepting payments:

Slash Invoicing: Turn on card payments when you send an invoice for a no-code solution. See the invoicing guide to get started.
SDK and API: Build card checkout directly into your website or product. Once you're approved, create an API key in Entity settings and follow the Payment Processing Quickstart.

Customers can pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Payments are currently available in USD and EUR, and CAD, GBP, and AUD are available on request. Whether a customer pays an invoice or checks out on your site, every payment lands in the same dashboard you already use to manage your business finances.

Vendor Invites

Collecting a vendor's banking details shouldn't take a week of emails. With Vendor Invites, you can request the details you need and let recipients submit their information themselves.

Through Slash, you can invite a new vendor or request updated details from an existing one. Whether you're looking to collect payment details, an address, tax information, or anything else, your recipient receives a secure link where they can sign in and provide the requested information without back-and-forth emails.

Need tax information? Your vendors can upload a W-9 or W-8 document as a PDF or image. Slash extracts the information it recognizes to help prefill the form, then allows the recipient to review it before submitting.

Queued Payments

Vendor Invites came with a partner feature: Queued Payments, which makes it easier for you to pay your vendors as they're getting onboarded into your system.

When you invite a new vendor to fill out their financial information for your business, you can also queue up the first payment you plan on sending them. As that vendor onboards, they can accept the payment at the same time they fill out their banking details. The vendor doesn't need their own Slash account to input their information and accept a queued payment. – it all happens via a secure link.

Organization Chart & Updated Payment Policies

The new Org Chart and payment policies are built to work together, so the way you approve payments can follow the way your company is organized.

Start with your Org Chart. You can assign each user a manager when you invite them or later from their user page, and each user page lists the people they manage. In the main "Users" tab of the Settings page, you can view your organization's tree by role, name, and email, then click any entry to open that user's page. You get a clear picture of who reports to whom without switching to your HR platform.

With that structure in place, you can set payment approval and ACH authorization policies that match it, deciding which admins and managers sign off on which payments. For example, you can:

Require approval from an admin or the employee's manager for payments over a set amount
Limit ACH debits that pull money from your account
Hold unusually large debits, such as a payroll withdrawal that's bigger than normal, until someone reviews them

Because your approvals are tied to your reporting structure, it's easier to see who is responsible for each payment. As your team grows or changes, you can check the Org Chart to keep your rules current.
