How to Track and Manage Your Invoices in Slash
Last updated March 21, 2026
Slash's invoicing feature helps you request payments from customers, partners, or other businesses. Once you've sent an invoice, you can track its status, send reminders, and reconcile payments—all from your Slash dashboard.
Invoice Statuses
Your invoices move through different statuses as they progress toward payment:
- Draft: Invoice created but not yet sent to the recipient
- Sent: Invoice delivered to the recipient's email
- Viewed: Recipient has opened the invoice (if email tracking is enabled)
- Paid: Payment received and matched to the invoice
- Overdue: Payment deadline has passed without full payment
- Cancelled: Invoice voided and no longer active
Step 1: Navigate to Invoicing
From your main dashboard, click Invoicing in the left sidebar to access your invoice management page.
Step 2: View Your Invoice List
The invoice list displays all your invoices with key details at a glance: recipient name, amount, issue date, due date, and current status. You can filter invoices by status (Draft, Sent, Paid, Overdue, etc.) using the filter options at the top of the list.
Step 3: Check Invoice Details
Click any invoice to open its detail view. Here you can see the full invoice information including line items, payment instructions, and a timeline of activity (when it was sent, viewed, or paid).
Step 4: Send Payment Reminders
For unpaid invoices, you can send a reminder email to the recipient. Open the invoice and click Send Reminder to notify them of the outstanding payment. You can customize the reminder message or use the default template.
Step 5: Mark an Invoice as Paid
When you receive payment outside of Slash (cash, check, or external transfer), you can manually mark the invoice as paid. Open the invoice, click Mark as Paid, and select the corresponding transaction from your Slash account to link the payment. Supported transaction types for matching include ACH credits, wire transfers, international wires, RTP payments, and cryptocurrency deposits.
Step 6: Cancel or Void an Invoice
If an invoice was sent in error or is no longer needed, you can cancel it. Open the invoice and click Cancel Invoice. This removes the payment obligation and notifies the recipient if the invoice was already sent.
Additional Features and Considerations
- Invoice branding: Customize your invoices with your company logo and brand colors from Settings > Invoicing
- Payment methods: Recipients can pay via ACH, wire, or cryptocurrency
- Email notifications: You'll receive email notifications when invoices are viewed and paid
- Export options: Download invoice lists as CSV for accounting or record-keeping purposes
Need More Help?
If an invoice payment isn't matching correctly or you're seeing unexpected statuses, check that the incoming transaction amount matches the invoice total. For crypto payments, confirm the payment was sent to the correct wallet address.
