In March, we unveiled new features, updated current features, and pushed our CEO out of a plane (for the sake of expense management). We also gave extra attention to accounting teams this month, as you’ll see in our invoicing and integration updates.

Here’s what’s new entering April:

Expense Management

We set out to close the gap between the moment a purchase happens and the moment documentation appears on the Slash dashboard. That’s why we now automate receipt and memo collection for Slash Cards.¹ After an administrator defines internal spending rules, Slash automatically enforces company policies when card transactions are attempted.

When a cardholder makes an in-person Slash Card purchase that requires documentation, Slash instantly sends a follow up text. From there, the person can submit a photo of their receipt right in the text thread, and the data is uploaded directly to the Slash dashboard. In the case of an online payment, Slash sends the cardholder an email, and they can reply with an attached receipt.

Instead of batching expense reports at the end of the month, receipts are collected and reconciled at the moment of transaction. This means month-end close becomes faster, employees spend less time logging expenses, audits are cleaner, and any policy violations can be detected on the spot.

Accounting Automation

Slash’s accounting automation tools just got stronger. We’re adding:

  • Accounting auto-categorization: Each transaction is categorized automatically as it reaches your accounting dashboard. Categories are assigned based on merchant data and your team's transaction history, and accuracy improves over time as the system learns your patterns.
  • ERP property tagging: With Slash, you can now define your ERP tagging rules, specifying details like department, cost center, class, and project. Entries will always arrive in your ERP fully enriched.
  • Batch approvals: You can now filter transactions by category, date range, team, or amount in your accounting panel and approve them in bulk. A month's worth of expenses no longer requires a month's worth of clicks.

Along with these new features, we’re also introducing our accounting partnership program, where current customers can earn $1,000 when they refer a friend to Slash. If you refer additional clients, you can unlock better rates, a dedicated partner manager, co-marketing, and a spot in our accounting directory.

New Integrations: Xero and Sage Intacct

Xero and Sage Intacct can now integrate seamlessly with Slash in the same way QuickBooks Online does. Once you connect your accounting platform of choice, all Slash transactions can flow directly into your ledger without manual input or copy-pasting. Our new integrations also support intelligent transaction categorization.

It’s important to note that while Slash connects with these platforms, it doesn’t replace them. You'll need your own active account with Xero or Sage Intacct to use the respective integration.

Additionally, Slash can help you save on these tools. Current Slash customers get 30% off of QuickBooks for 12 months and 90% off of Xero for 4 months. Open up our Perks dashboard to activate these deals before connecting.

Invoicing Updates

We’re introducing two new features to our platform’s invoicing workflow: recurring invoices and crypto invoices.

Our recurring invoices tool gives accounts receivable teams the power to automate the tedious task of sending repetitive invoices manually. Users can now set up parameters for cyclical invoices, specifying the pattern and schedule, payment terms, and the pattern’s end condition – if any. It’s also possible to automate a singular invoice delivery in the future with our new “Schedule for Later” option. All invoices are visible on one dashboard and sorted by “Scheduled”, “Unpaid”, “Paid”, and “Overdue”.

For companies that work with digital assets, Slash now supports crypto invoices that allow clients to pay with the stablecoin or virtual token of their choice.⁴ Users have the option of routing their funds through nine different blockchains and sending near-instant payments with USDC or USDT. If the client prefers not to use cryptocurrency on the invoice, they can still send fiat currency through traditional banking means.

What’s Next

Another busy month is behind us, and more busy months are ahead. Between quality-of-life improvements and massive product additions, our team is always working to make the Slash platform more powerful. Stay tuned to see what we debut in April.
