Introducing Card Groups: Smarter Card Management at Scale

Card Groups let you predefine limits, rules, and merchants — and apply them instantly.

For growing teams, card management quickly becomes chaotic. Whether you're running a marketing agency with dozens of campaign budgets or managing contractors across job sites, one thing becomes clear fast: you need control over company spend.

With Slash, every card* already comes with tight, configurable permissions — utilization and transaction limits, merchant rules, MCC codes, and more. You can restrict cards to specific geographies, categories (like gas or ticketing), or even individual vendors. This gives teams the ability to spend securely without relying on reimbursements or manual oversight.

Now, we’re making that control even more scalable.

What Are Card Groups?

Card Groups let you define a reusable set of permissions — and instantly apply them to any new card you create for your business.

Instead of setting rules from scratch each time you issue a new card on your account*, just assign a card to the right group. It inherits all the settings and limits you’ve already configured, including:

  • Transaction limits (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Merchant allow/block lists
  • Category-level restrictions (e.g. gas stations only)
  • Geographic limits

Think of it as a template system for cards. Set the rules once. Apply to every new card issued in that group.

Set Rules Once. Apply Everywhere.

This is especially useful for companies with repeatable spending patterns.

Example: You manage a distributed team of subcontractors who need to fuel up during jobs. Instead of issuing generic cards or dealing with reimbursements, create a “Gas Only” card group. Every card issued in that group will only work at gas stations — nothing else.

Same goes for campaign-specific cards, vendor-specific cards, or department-based spend.

It’s not just cleaner. It’s safer, faster, and more scalable.

Manage With Precision

From the Card Groups tab, you can see exactly how each group is set up:

  • Which vendors are being used
  • Which limits are being approached or exceeded
  • Who has access to each group

You can pause, export, or adjust any group instantly — and any changes will cascade to all cards underneath it.

More Control, Less Chaos

One of the fastest-growing agencies we work with used to manage employee cards with a spreadsheet and a prayer — now they issue cards with well-defined limits with a click of a button. Another trades business had no way to prevent card misuse — until they restricted contractor cards to a handful of approved merchants and spending types.

Now, they don’t think twice. Every new employee or vendor gets a card with the right rules baked in. Finance gets clean records. Operators get freedom to move quickly.

That’s the goal of Card Groups.

Scalable, tighter control with zero slowdown.
