About the position
Slash is the only browser extension that lets you save instantly on every purchase at our partner brands with one click you pay less. The "Buy with Slash" button magically appears, allowing users to shop with a lowered (or "Slashed") price. Slash is based in the UK and is growing globally with partners like Booking.com, eBay, Udemy, AliExpress, Groupon, Microsoft, and more joining all the time.
We are looking for a talented Head of Frontend Group, who will help us build scalable processes for growing number of integrations, and become an efficient leader for our frontend team, bringing them to the top performance level.
Who we are looking for:
- A frontend rockstar: at least 4 years of experience building and managing highly scalable projects with numerous integrations
- A technical expert, with a clear and deep understanding of how these products work, with exceptional architectural and coding skills
- A mature manager, an adept of critical and systematic thinking
Main stack:
The logic is written on pure JavaScript using ES6 classes. View components are executed on Vue.js. Repo in GitHub, the project is assembled in webpack.
The extension for Chrome is ready, we are finishing Safari and Firefox. REST backend is realized on Go. Infrastructure is in AWS.
Responsibilities
- Optimize, direct and manage technical processes, and orchestrate all the architecture of the browser extension
- Manage the backlog, assign and distribute tasks, categorize it by priority, and define current focuses for the team members
- Participate in the development of the technical roadmap for frontend development units — merchant integration, product development, and R’n’D.
- Initiate and conduct performance reviews; assess, guide, and grow junior/middle team members
- Carry out the code review (along with everyone on the team), set the code style, introduce the best practices
- Be responsible for keeping the system up to date with all the technological novelties
- Work closely with tech leads of other branches, the CTO, CMO, Head of Operations, and Product Manager in agile environment
You will lead all core extension team activities, including architecture design, implementing new complete product scenarios, maintaining core app infrastructure, adding new integrations, and maintaining existing ones. While working on core features, it's essential to design and deliver a scalable solution — our goal is to have a lot of integrations!
Your main activities will include
- Plan and implement solutions that enable us to grow integrations count rapidly
- Extend and maintain parsing strategies and mechanisms
- Inspect and analyze complex web pages to propose direct integration strategies
- Create new integrations, improve core mechanisms to achieve flexibility, scalability and extendability
- We do what it takes to build new integrations; sometimes, it requires some reverse-engineering to do so
- Streamline development and delivery processes and practices so we deliver quality code to users quickly and consistently
